Don joined KDP in May 2017 as a Senior Audit Manager and was promoted to Audit & Assurance Director in 2022. He manages several annual nonprofit and municipal audit engagements. He’s a CPA and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Originally from Texas, Ewalt graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Fine Arts. During nine years at Barnes & Noble, he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University.
Ewalt spent six years at the Dallas office of BKD, LLP, one of the largest public accounting firms in the United States. At BKD, Don specialized in working with higher education institutions, governmental municipalities, not-for-profits, foundations and charities. He has also worked with federal and state grant compliance requirements in addition to analyzing internal controls, aiding in preparation of financial statements and implementing new accounting standards. He served as the in-charge on the City of Lubbock, Texas, the City of Shreveport, La., the City of El Paso Employee’s Pension Fund, Texas Wesleyan University, Centenary College, University of Dallas, Partnership with Native Americans and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System Foundation.
