MARK E. DAMON, CPA, MACC

Managing Partner

Mark grew up in San Diego, California until his family transitioned to Southern Oregon where he attended high school. He received his B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Oregon State University in early 2002. Upon graduation he accepted a position as an Audit Associate at Grant Thornton LLP where he was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 2003. His clients at Grant Thornton ranged from a small publicly traded entity to large municipals in the Portland metropolitan area. Mark left Grant Thornton to pursue his Masters of Accounting at the University of Oregon (UofO) in late 2004. Upon receiving his Masters of Accounting, he accepted a position in Portland, Oregon with Ernst & Young where he spent several years in the audit practice.

After his time at Ernst & Young, Mark and his family move back to Southern Oregon. Mark spent four years at large not for profit as the Vice President and Corporate Controller where he oversaw 50+ operating entities (and accounting for over $1.5 Billion in assets and multiple tax-exempt bond financings) and many large-scale real estate developments ($250+ Million projects).

After his time spent in private industry Mark missed the dynamic environment that is nurtured within public accounting.  Mark joined KDP in September of 2012 as a Principal and was made Partner in January 2013. In early 2014, Mark earned the position of Managing Partner when he led the operational aspects of several mergers and organic growth. Since 2013, the firm has grown from approximately 13 team members in Southern Oregon, to a multi-state organization with approximately 100 team members in multiple States. Mark also serves as the Managing Member of the firm’s real estate arm in which he led the development and construction of the firm’s office locations in Southern Oregon (Medford) and Southwest Idaho (Boise).

Mark continues to lead many of KDP’s largest assurance and consulting projects, focusing on creating business solutions for an array of organizations. Mark’s blend of experience between public accounting and industry provides a unique and balanced understanding of the pressures and complexities faced by organizations in today’s business climate. His in-depth knowledge and background involving both internal best practices and external compliance requirements allows him to develop innovative solutions to complications confronting clients.

Mark’s community and professional involvement includes former Chair of the Southern Oregon Chapter of the Oregon Society of CPAs, former Finance Committee member of Asante Health System, former Board Member (Secretary) of the Oregon Society of CPAs, former Vice Chair of the Britt Gardens Music and Arts Festival, Member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Outside the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife their two children. He also enjoys mountain biking, travel, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
